Wanna know who's behind this WebSite? Well...
Professionally

Currently Editor-in-Chief of ASP Today, but have some other projects going.
Author of various books on Windows development.

Personally
I'm based in the UK, though with some spells in Berkeley, California due to my work on ASP Today.
Not married. Interests span – well, loads of reading, mostly academic-ish stuff.
Science fiction/fantasy fan, especially Star Trek, Dr Who, and Buffy. Very health-conscious
(which manifests itself mostly via cycling and attending contemporary/jazz/hiphop dance classes
when I have time). Main vice is an inability to resist buying Lego
despite never having time to play with it
(hey, I'm a scientist-engineering-type. It's allowed!)
Politically
Ex-Labour supporter, not currently certain which political party I most support.
Strong environmentalist tendencies, coupled with a belief that individual freedoms
are best protected when people are part of a strong community.
Pretty liberal, both socially and economically. My political views are very strongly influenced
by my spiritual beliefs.
More
Spiritually:
Attend
St. Thomas' C/E Church, Lancaster, UK, though it tends to be intermittant rather than every week.
Probably best characterized as on the extreme liberal fringe of Christianity: I have a strong
belief in a Universal God of Love, that the purpose of life can be found in a relationship with
that God, and I regard what Jesus appears to have taught as a pretty good model to follow. I do
have other non-Christian influences, in particular I'm highly impressed by
Neale Donald Walsh's Conversations with God series.
And I do tend to see different religions
as offering different paths to God, with no religion being perfect. I frankly get pretty
embarrassed by the antics of many more conservative Christian groups, whose beliefs, and approach to
God don't seem to have much in common with mine. And I well understand why so many people see
what conservative religious groups say and do - and as a result
end up getting put off God and spiritual things altogether.
